Went to the Chloe Early exhibition at Stolenspace in Brick Lane. I've been a fan of her work for a while and having the opportunity to see it close up was a real treat, if you haven't seen her work before then check her out. She does amazing oil paintings on metal, glass and perspex with a superb sense of colour and space. She employs a dynamic combination of expressive brushstrokes and areas of detail, but what I love the most are the spaces in her paintings where there appears to be nothing going on. In these spaces she achieves these beautiful off-white tones and textures that are almost reminiscent of Rauschenberg's 'combine' paintings. Rad stuff.
